Disturbance of birds by recreation

In the Netherlands, more and more people are spending their leisure time in nature. Vogelbescherming (Birdlife Netherlands) has therefore asked Wageningen University and Research and Lowland Ecology Network to investigate the impact of recreation on birds. The report Disturbance of birds by recreation compiles information from no fewer than 270 sources. It highlights both the effects and possible solutions. For each species, the authors provide guidelines for buffer distances and tips for limiting disturbance.
