Reproduction of black-tailed godwits in South-Holland
Since 2020 the reproduction of black-tailed godwits has been monitored in South-Holland. The study area consists of both agricultural areas and nature reserves that take measures to improve the habitat of black-tailed godwits. Chick survival turned out to be the bottleneck in reproduction of black-tailed godwits in these areas. Besides monitoring the breeding success annually, several individuals were equipped with GPS-trackers to have a better idea of the habitat use. Also a comparative study focusing on the quality of grasslands and predations was done.
